As a Senior Citizen do you prefer to live in an area with other seniors?

Question by joy: As a Senior Citizen do you prefer to live in an area with other seniors?
Or is a family neighborhood more to your liking? Would you rather live in a 55 and over apartment or condo, or rent or buy in a neighborhood/building with families and children around? I can recall the sweet older neighbors who loved to see the kids come around, as well as the “crabby old folks” who yelled at us for getting too close to their yard.

I live in NYC. I also have a daughter in high school here. I think NYC is a fine place for teenagers.

BUT, as a parent, I wouldn’t let you do this either.

1) Who would you live with? You are too young to live alone in such a complex city. It’s not like you grew up here and knew the way the City works. And, even if you did grow up here, you are too young to live alone here.

2) WHERE would you live? This is an extremely expensive place to live in and housing costs are through the moon. Do you really think you and your friends can afford the rent on a NYC apartment?

3) High school admissions are EXTREMELY complicated here. And senior year is a terrible time to try to enter. All the good high schools pretty much require that you enter by 10th grade. Those who come in 12th grade get stuck in the worst of the worst – dangerous schools where no real education is going on.

Wait till you are really old enough to do this. What is your hurry?

Unless each apartment has a spot numbered for their unit, the parking is up for grabs. That’s always something to consider when you look to rent a place.

Would you go and live somewhere else your senior year?

Question by yellow birds: Would you go and live somewhere else your senior year?
I kind of want to move to my moms friend’s house. They live in a different town about 2 hrs away. I love my school but lately I just want to get away from stress. I have a broken heart and don’t want to see this guy anymore at all. So I was thinking that I might be able to move away and experience a new school and meet new people. Would you move away if you had only one yr left?

Best answer:

Answer by Reva S
To be honest I wouldn’t. But that’s my situation. I have lifetime friends there, I love all the people at my school, my crush goes there, and love where I live. If I didn’t have those things than I might move.

Doing the job of a Senior Associate, but being paid for an Administrative Assistant – Help?

Question by K: Doing the job of a Senior Associate, but being paid for an Administrative Assistant – Help?
Under company classifications and job duties, I am performing tasks of a Senior Associate and have clerical staff that is trained and reports to me. Since the position was originally posted as Administrative Assistant and I have been given duties of another person which the position was not filled, they decided not to fill it and justify it as “other duties assigned”.

I have asked to be reevaluated for my job duties and given compensation by personnel. the employer agreed that I was in fact a Senior Associate, but took my state funded cost of living raises (past 5 years) into consideration and just added on 00 more a year to put me in the minimum salary of a Senior Associate.

I believe that they should have started my salary at the base pay of an Associate, then added in my cost of living state raises…otherwise when you subtract those state wide raises, I am not even in the pay bracket for my duties and title.

It’s like my tenure is their advantage.

What are some suggestion?

Advice about senior prom for a clueless tomboy living under a rock? Please and Thank you!?

Question by : Advice about senior prom for a clueless tomboy living under a rock? Please and Thank you!?
Senior prom is coming up. I don’t know what to wear and get there. Advice please?

I’m a girl that acts like a tomboy all the time. [I'm very sporty/spend a lot of time playing sports.] Hence, I keep my hair really short.
I am going to prom, but I don’t want to spend that much on it. I don’t have a date, and I doubt that I will get one [I'm bisexual]. So here are my questions:

1) Should I get a tux or dress?
I don’t particularly feel comfortable in dresses, but worst case scenario I have a short back up dress to wear. I don’t like showing my legs, so I want to get a long one if I can’t get a tux.
The only problem that I have with a tux is that will I look too much like a waitress? I found a site where I can get the tux for about 0, and our prom is going to be taking place at a classy hotel.
Since I rarely wear dresses, I don’t want to spend more than on it. I’m willing to spend a bit more for the tux since I do wear suits occasionally. Or will a suit be a better option? [If you can send me links for nice reasonably priced suits, that will be awesome.]

2) Will it be weird if I drive myself to prom?
Some of my friends are getting a limo, and I have the choice to go with them, even though it will be kinda expensive. So I’m sorta asking is going in a limo worth it/will I get a chance to go somewhere in a limo again?

And I guess one more piece of info, I’m not superstitious or anything, but 2011 has been a bad year for me, and I kinda don’t even know if its gonna be fun, so I don’t want to waste money on something stupid.
I know the whole, prom is what you make it, and I do believe that, it’s just I don’t particularly feel like it’s going to be as great as it’s supposed to be [ei, there's too much hype about it, and it seems to be fake after awhile]. But, the point really is to enjoy the night with friends, which is definitely my goal; I just don’t want to stick out for my lack of “classiness” for lack of a better word.

Q&A: Living with my girlfriend senior year?

Question by Hello I Love You: Living with my girlfriend senior year?
If my girlfriend and I saved up our money from our jobs until next year, I estimate we’ll have at least ,000, most likely more. Then, we’ll move into an apartment that will be from 0-600, and still have our jobs. Her friend also might live with us which would also help us financially (she has a job as well). Do you think it’s realistic to believe we could do this? Also, my girlfriend and I will probably graduate early, in December, so we could make our jobs full time at that point.
Yes, I totally plan on living like this for the rest of my life. Who needs a job or education?

How would be the social and/or racial reaction if a senior middle class mexican couple lived in Atlanta?

Question by Alan H: How would be the social and/or racial reaction if a senior middle class mexican couple lived in Atlanta?

Of course my question is to know which is the level of tolerance, my point is not to be offensive.

Answer by Atlanta_Mitch
Maybe I can help, I’ve been in Atlanta for the last 15 years. So just do a little research on Atlanta via the link below. At this time Atlanta has a strong booming thriving Mexican-American community. Many own great companies in various sectors. In other words, the Tolerance level is high and mexicans are emerging into leadership positions all over the city.

I’ve seen on the news over the last 5 years, several young Mexican/Hispanic school Principals receive awards for excellence, due to thier great test scores and integrating bilingual teachers into key positions. Gwinnett county has the largest population and has many mexican officials in city council.

And remember, everybody in Atlanta is a transplant from other cities, this is not your typical southern city anymore.

Good Luck!
