My great great grandfather was 99 years old and could not even move his limbs, and could barely speak. He had home health care because he did not want to die in a hospital, and was instead brought back to my grandmother’s house and still needed to be cared for. He worked from the age of 14 until he was 70.

So to answer your question, no.

Contact the agency and insist on a replacement.

However, do realize that it is not her job to feed pets. If her reason for being there is to help you, and not your husband, then it is not her job to do your husband’s tasks. He can wash his own dishes and laundry. My grandmother had a home health aide for years. She made of list of what she expected to be done and the aide did that. All the cleaning would be done, then she went grocery shopping. After the grocery shopping was done and everything put away, she would sit and chat with my grandmother over a cup of coffee – this helped to evaluate my grandmother, who was subject to mini-strokes.

Difference between home health aide and a certified nursing assistant?

Question by sPoInK!: Difference between home health aide and a certified nursing assistant?
what are the differences?

Best answer:

Answer by Grace
A home health aide goes to people’s houses and may do a variety of tasks including cleaning, cooking and activity of daily living tasks, plus some medical things they are trained to do. A certified nursing assistant is someone who has taken some kind of training and is certified by some medical body that they are able to perform certain medical tasks. A certified nursing assistant may work as a home health aide, but may also work in a hospital or doctor’s office.

Home health aide describes the work position of going into people’s homes whereas a certified nursing assistant is a qualification. In some ways it’s like comparing two different things: a work place and a certification. However, the tasks overlap.

Q&A: Would I be able to get a Home health Aide job if I have a misdemeanor?

Question by cruiz: Would I be able to get a Home health Aide job if I have a misdemeanor?
The misdemeanor happened about a year ago. The misdemeanor was because of falsifying a police report in trying to protect someone I knew. It was a dumb move on my part, I’ve learned my lesson. however I’m currently still in school and I am working towards going into medical school.

How long does a Home Health Aide (HHA) Certification remain valid for in PA? If its invalid how do I renew it?

Question by : How long does a Home Health Aide (HHA) Certification remain valid for in PA? If its invalid how do I renew it?
I got my certification by going to a vo-tech school while in high school & I graduated 3 years ago (2006). I worked at a HHA agency until 2007. I now want to go back to working at an agency and I can’t find my card so I was going to call my school & see if they could give me another one. Does anyone know if it will still be valid?

To see if your license is valid, go to http://www.dsf.health.state.pa.us/health/cwp/view.asp?A=188&Q=200721 and click on Nurse Aide Registry Online. You should be able to follow the links to verify your licensure status.

Most Home Health Aide licensure is good for 2 years after it is issued.

If all else fails, contact the vo-tech that you went to and ask the instructor what to do. If your license is expired, he/she will be able to tell you what to do at this point. In Oklahoma, if a license expires, additional classes can be taken and the person can retest to get his/her license back.

In most states it is mandatory. But in all hospitals, nursing homes, or private care all want some one who is certified. Go for it! Then don’t stop there, go on for LPN and then for RN with an associates and then go for Rn with bachelors. The reason I say in steps is you may not have the time and/or the money to continue your education while working.

Good luck! I hope you are a loving, caring, compassionate person with much patience! :)

Please help with my decision to become a home health aide?

Question by cas: Please help with my decision to become a home health aide?
my only problem is that the pay base rate is 7.50.. i was told that HHA’s in new york make over 10$ & there are ads all over the newspaper that say theyre paying 12$.. is it possible for me to get my certificate at this place and then work some where else?
& also it is even worth becoming a HHA or should I just train to become a CNA?

Best answer:

Answer by slammamama
as a CNA you will be more hireable bc a number of different places staff CNAs. You could do that and if you like it, try for nursing school. In NC, you must be licensed as a CNA in order to become a nurse anyway.
