If society encouraged unhappy folk to commit legalized assisted suicide on demand, wouldn’t all alive be happy

A lot of people hate the society and world they are born into. But society says nothing will ever change because of human nature. So lets accept that libertarian free will etc.

Its a crime that we have a society that makes people want to commit suicide, but then we put barriers towards carrying out leading 80% of suicides to fail!

So why not legalize assisted suicide on demand, not just for the ill but for all adults. A reasonable waiting period of 1-year would prevent impulsive decisions.

Yeah some people might make the wrong choice. But we americans LOVE individualism and personal choice and responsibility so much, so we have to let people make bad choices and suffer the consequences. Thats the price of freedom. Especially where it does not harm anyone. Emotional harm? A boss firing you emotionally harms you, as do plenty of other legal activities.

So lets say we have Futurama suicide booths. Whats the end result? Anyone unhappy does not have to live, and all those alive at least subjectively believe themselves to be happy.

Let me get this straight. You’re suggesting that we kill, or rather encourage suicide among, unhappy people.

Why? So we can have a world filled with grinning simpletons who just nod a lot and go along with everything that comes their way?

    That sounds scary.

  2. 3lilmen says:

However the people committing suicide have others around them who would be unhappy they committed suicide. Leading to more suicides, which would eventually end the human race.

    Or dead

Encouraging everyone who is unhappy at some time to kill themselves means there would be no one left but happy idiots.

you know what i dont dissagree with you at all…. ppl are focusing too much into what they want to focus which is ” ohh no dead, suicide are taboos” fuck that, im sorry but i feel that I am the owner of my life not the government or the laws that are implanted infront of me… i too beleive that people should have 100% decision over their lifes, plus everyone says ” what about the pain caused to their loved ones, they will commit suicide too” i dont know about you guys but from first hand experienced id rather see anyone dead than having to suffer deep depressions or having to see a loved one locked in a Psychiatric hospital hurting themselves even more by having to live life’s they dont want and being forced to, that must be horrible, having to witness that day in and day out would have more of an emotional distress on family members than just death alone, like you said, giving a one year (depending on your situation) waiting list, that way the people who actually want to live will be alive and the ones who dont wont, we are the owners of our lives should we have that right? plus the world i beleive would become a happier place.
