Unless each apartment has a spot numbered for their unit, the parking is up for grabs. That’s always something to consider when you look to rent a place.

It sounds like it’s a first come first served situation. Where my Sister lives everyone has their own numbered space, and God help anyone who inadvertently parks in it, because there is no wrath like the anger of a little blue haired old lady who can’t get into her parking spot because some thoughtless person has taken it. They’ll have you towed in a heart beat. So I guess you’re just going to have to keep your eyes open for closer spots.

You are going to have to work this out with whoever rented the space to you…..is what you are going to have to do.

Yes, if you park in a place that is directly in front of another tenant’s front door, they are most certainly going to complain…it is a senior complex and they are just as old as you are …and probably want a space close to the door as you do.

So….to the management people you must go and work it out with them…particularly since they do have some sort of parking policy in place.

In many complexes…and not only senior ones, the usual rule is that ONE space near one’s front entrance is reserved per unit….with spaces for additional cars you may own further away. If that is the rule in your complex, no….no one is going to tell you you can take up two spaces at your front door just because you don’t want to park a second car where everyone else has to park their second cars.

As stated above, unless the parking spots are actually assigned, I doubt there is much you could do about it. Have you thought about living somewhere that you could have an assigned parking spot that would be closer to your door. Best of luck, I know that can be hard.
